Armature plate designed to move freely is to ensure that the maximum amount of surface area comes in contact with the surface of the EM Lock. If the armature is too stiff and cannot move freely, it may not contact properly with the EM Lock.
Remark: Although an Armature plate needs to be freely of movement when installed but it should not be loose. Poor holding force. Armature and EM Lock surface is not completely contact. AC voltage input. When AC voltage from a transformer is used, a full wave brigde rectifier must be installed to convert the AC voltage to DC voltage.
Low voltage Check for proper voltage at the EM Lock input. If low, determine if the correct wire gaugeis being used to prevent excessive voltage drop. Check for proper supply load capacity. It must meet or exceed the combined current rating of all locks on the circuits. Once the plating has been removed, it cannot be restored in the field, so the EM lock will have to be periodically cleaned and coated with oil or other rust inhibitor.
If the EM Lock was installed in a heavy corrosive atmosphere, such as near to the ocean, it will eventually rust even with non abrasive cleaning. Therefore, EM Lock should be continued on a regular basis to remove the rust. The surface of the EM Lock and the armature plate should be smooth and clean.
The surfaces need to be plated and polished to ensure a good solid surface when contact each other. Double check both of the surfaces to make certain they can perform correctly.
No holding force. If the voltage is low or zero, double check all the wire connections and the power supply. Need to ensure the EM lock is being correctly powered with DC voltage.
Input polarity reversed Check the voltage polarity. Terminal - is: Negative. Positive must go to red and negative to black. If the EM Lock continues operate fail, electricity need to be checked with an Ammeter.
It must be powered with the correct input voltage if it draws the specified current. If reading is high or open replace the magnet coil. Magnet coil short Coil shorts or incorrect wiring will blow fuses.
